Once again December is upon us, bringing us to the end of another year. We can all look back at our joys and sorrows, our losses and gains. This recession has affected many people worldwide, so in a sense I feel it has been a great leveler. We are all aware that we need to be mindful and grateful for what we have, to take better care of our belongings and our jobs, and to be more attentive to family. I think that next year will see a turn in the economy, and that 2010 will be a year of hope and building for us all.
This also brings Tir na nÓg into its 12th year since the doors opened. The first and largest Irish Pub in Raleigh, we are proud to be stronger than ever. The Irish public house was always a place of refuge from the cold,. Many a heart was poured out over a good pint and we like to think that many a heart still is poured and listened to, and greeted with a warm welcome at Tir na nÓg. There are many good times, good music, food, and friends. We are a gathering place for all. We see families return here time and time again, from the first meeting, to the wedding party, and even back for the christening. It is like we are writing our own story book in this the land of eternal youth set in the heart of the City.
There is an old Irish saying that God gave us Irish pubs to get away from it all, to drink deep and into the night, and to raise our glasses to strong men and fine looking women and to our fathers who begat us. I like this, and as a child in Ireland the Irish Pub was indeed very much a place of great social events NOT all wrapped up in drinking, but the gathering of locals to talk and swap stories to listen to poetry and music and to eat, drink and indeed be merry. We like to bring that same feeling of family to you.
We have big plans for Christmas and New Years Eve. We will ring in the Irish New Year at 7pm with Live Traditional Irish Music & Bagpipes and our late night band seeing out the old and bringing in the new is none other than the amazing "DICKENS BAND" This will be our best New Years Eve party to date. Throughout the month of December we will be offering lots of Special Christmas Menu Options. Ask your server for details; they are always delighted to help. We hope you and yours will spend some time with us this Holiday season. If you would like to discuss a private function on or off the premises please call me, I would be happy to sit down and discuss options with you. Check out the Pub calendar on the reverse, and feel free to take this newsletter home with you.
Many Thanks for stopping in to see us, and we hope that you will return soon. In the meantime, take care and please be kind to each other. Have a wonderful holiday season and a blessed and prosperous New Year.
Nollaig Shona Duit.
